Liturgical Ministries
Altar Care: Helping to maintain the altar linens is a silent, generous way to serve God and the parish community. Members are responsible for collection, washing and pressing the linens used during the Masses and on the altar. They also care for vestments.
Altar Servers
Adults: needed to act as servers for daily Mass, for special liturgies and for funerals.
Youth: Girls and boys 5th grade or older who have made their First Communion are invited to serve St. Helen as altar servers.
Art & Environment
Individuals perform a variety of tasks involved in decorating the church for seasonal holidays and for special liturgies. They sew, design, make banners and decorations and buy supplies.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
This is a very special and privileged ministry as these members of the parish minister the Body and Blood of Christ to the congregation at Mass. They may also carry the Holy Eucharist to the homebound, hospital, and nursing homes. Because of this, the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve only at the pastor's request. Minister Schedule
Lectors/Commentators
Lectors serve our faith community as lay ministers by proclaiming the Word of God through scripture readings at Mass. Their goal is to help make God's Word come alive, and inspire contemplative reflection within the assembly. They strive to enhance the proclamation of God's word through preparation, study and understanding of scripture. Lectors/Commentators must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation; be in good standing with the Church; and be 16 years of age or older. Minister Schedule
Sacristans
Help by preparing the altar and sanctuary before and after weekend Masses, and by caring for the liturgical vessels.
Ushers
Ushers for weekend and Holy Day services welcome worshippers, assist with seating, take up the weekly collection, direct flow for Communion, distribute bulletins after Mass, and then clean up any disorder left in the Church.
