Background

St. Helen School opened in 1961 with 23 fifth graders. Sister Mary Harold Helms, our first principal, a Sister of Notre Dame from Chardon, Ohio added another grade each year.  The first graduating class of 1965 had 25 students.  Kindergarten through third grade was added in 1979.  In 2002 we opened a preschool for three and four year olds.

Over the past 45 years our school has not only met incredible challenges but is growing and thriving.  We have 260 children in preschool through grade eight.  Our full staff of 37 teachers, teaching assistants, support staff and specialists offer the individual attention that our students need to meet their full potential.

Many classrooms have been remodeled to accommodate the needs of students and staff.  In 2006 new offices as well as a new entrance was created to make way for future changes in the church and school structure.
